Welcome to The Main Surf Dawgs - About Us
Born in an elevator that was stalled between the two only floors at The Lago Hospital on the Carribean Island of Aruba in 1961. Warrenton "Doc" Michaelson was quickly thrown into the ocean and swimming by the age of Six.... (months). His father, Warrenton T. Michaelson Sr. decided after Warrenton was born that there were not going to be anymore children as he was the sixth and the last child in the family. He moved to Gainesville Florida and lived there for 22 years and learned about Surfing at St. Augustine Beach from a group of Hippy surfers called The Main Surf Dawgs. "Doc" learned all his manuevers from the Elders to include serving the drinks , making the sandwiches, waxing the boards, fixing the dings and introducing the Tykes to the Dawgs. Yes indeed, growing up had it's moments and a fair share of those times (mostly 20 to 25 years ago) were captured in writing by the author Warren "Doc" Michael. His first journal was solely written for keeping track of gas usage, mileage and money spent on his voyage with his cohorts Yorkshire Puddin' and Seargeant Rambo Scranbeenie to The Mexican Pipeline back in 1981. The transportation at that time was a '67 Ford Econoline Van called "The Grey Mutt". With a top speed of 43 mph, they survived 4 weeks of mindboggling Surf and upon their return to ST. Augustine. They were already planning another trip South of the Border. After 28 years of writing 12 Adventure Surf Journals, Doc Wart is still in the water surfing at any given oppurtunity and can be found in Mexico, Hawaii and other Central American hot spots. As a father, he too now recogizes the need to teach his own 19 year old son and protege... Warrenton T. Michaelson III (Tommy) about surfing and all the outrageous experiences that go along with it.
